about

Hihi! My name is Raegan GB.

I'm a scientist from Central Maine with educational backgrounds in Biology and Earth and Environmental Science. I was a teacher by trade, however, in the Spring of 2024 I decided to take a leap and pursue my art, sewing.

I learned to love sewing as a young girl in my Nana’s sewing room. I spent hours every summer sitting next to her at her sewing machine, and finally, when my legs were long enough to reach the pedal, we switched places and I proudly ran the machine myself. After I graduated from high school and my summers spent with my grandparents were over, I stopped sewing.

While teaching online science during the pandemic, I found myself needing an outlet. So, I picked up sewing again. Right out of the gate, I was hooked. My dear friends and family convinced me to start sharing my work by vending at markets, craft fairs, and events. I  branded myself as “sew goony”. I adopted my own style of upcycled, 1 of 1, slow-fashion pieces.

I enjoy utilizing scrap fabrics, upcycled textiles like quilts and tablecloths, and old t-shirts from thrift stores. The joy that comes from taking a piece of disregarded fabric and bringing it back to life in the form of a unique creation fuels my passion for sewing. I love being creative and creating.

Thank you for checking out my art and reading this little "about me".
